We had a great time on our Christmas Field trip to Burger King for lunch and to see the movie Tangled. What an awesome group of kids who behave so well when we are on field trips!! Below are some pictures (sorry for the poor quality-I only had my cell phone with me)

An Attitude of Gratitude
Beatrice's Goat, written by Page McBrier
Mrs. Way came to visit our group and read us a book. It was called Beatrice's Goat. It is about a girl named Beatrice who lived in Uganda. Her family was very poor and were given a goat. With the gift of the goat, they were able to sell the milk and she was eventually able to go to school. She came to the United States when she was older.

It was a great lesson on being thankful for what you have! The children asked some wonderful questions.
We also learned about Uganda: they are one of the poorest countries in the world, they have tropical forests and tourists who visit there go on Gorilla tracking safaris!

Greetings from Coast Rica
We had a guest today who came all the way from Coast Rica! Jake Arroyo's grandfather, who he calls Abuelo, came to visit with our class and talk about Costa Rica. We learned that in Coasta Rica there is: a volcano, coffee is grown there, they have beautiful frogs, toucan birds and lots of beaches. We also got to see their flag and look at a map that is written in Spanish. Thank you Jake and the Arroyo's for teaching us all about Costa Rica!

Picture-less post
Since last Tuesday was election day, we were talking about how you vote, how you decide who to vote for, etc. It was really hard to explain to 5 year olds! So, we divided our group into 2 groups: the boys wanted pretzels for snack and the girls wanted popcorn. Then, each group had to try to persuade the others to join their side. It was hilarious to hear them! We heard that you can eat pretzels with chocolate and yogurt and that popcorn is really good with butter on it! And with sugar!
Hopefully we learned alot about voting and how important it is to listen to each of the candidates issues before making your decision. At least we decided what we wanted for snack:)
