Columbus Day

Today, we talked about Christopher Columbus. We learned that he was born in Italy, but the King and Queen of Spain paid the way for him to set sail to the Indes by going a new route. And, they provided the 3 ships: Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria. We made a hat of the 3 ships.

Fire Safety Week

Today, we had special visitors that came to teach about fire safety. And, they brought their firetruck! And, we got to sit in the driver's seat and pretend to drive! (I have a picture of everyone in the driver's seat but I will email them to the parents-blogger wouldn't let me upload that many for this post!)

The Button Box

For the past 2 days, we have been reading The Button Box by Margarette S. Reid. We looked and touched our school's button collection. This is always one of my favorite books and activities to do.

Today, we looked at our school's button collection and sorted them into groups. Some chose to sort by color, some by # of holes, some by colors. I love to listen to their reasoning behind how and why they arranged their cup of buttons.

Spanish

We have Spanish class with Mrs. Pagan on Tuesdays. We are making books that we will bring home later in the school year. We are enjoying learning more everyday words in a new language.

A First

Today, just as lunch was beginning, we had something very exciting happen: Tom B. was the first kindergartener to loose a tooth!! He even pulled it out all by himself. Wonder who will be next?

Fall Trees

This month, our class has the responsibility of decorating the front porch bulletin board. We made fall trees using our arms, hands, paint and tissue paper. Here are some pictures of our works in progress.
