Goodbye...

Although I'm not their mother
I cared for them each day
I cuddled, sang and read to them
And watched them as they played.


I saw each new accomplishment
I helped them grow and learn
I understood their language
I listened with concern.


They came to me for comfort
And I kissed away their tears
They proudly showed their work to me
I gave the loudest cheers!


No, I'm not their mother
But my role was just as strong
I nurtured them and kept them safe
Though maybe not for long.


And now the time has come
When we will have to part
But I know each child I cared for
IS FOREVER IN MY HEART!
