Christmas Party

We had an awesome party day! First, we went to the Northeast Arkansas Food Bank to deliver 295 lbs of food. Then, we ate lunch at Mazzios (sorry, forgot to take my camera in). And, then, on to a movie: The Princess and the Frog. Fun day, and such well-behaved children!!

Another lost tooth!

Well, I think we have a future dentist on our hands. Tom B was so nice to assist Natalie this morning and pulled her tooth for her. I'm thinking the Tooth Fairy is really enjoying all of the business lately!

Pilgrims

We were Pilgrims this year for our Thanksgiving Feast.

Thanksgiving Montessori Style

Guess what I found after that last post?
Here are pictures from our fruit salad

Where are the Thanksgiving Pictures?

I bet you are wondering where they are? Well, as soon as I find the camera cord that my youngest son "put up" for me, I will get them posted. Sorry for the delay. I guess I should know by now to not leave things laying around on my desk. Guess I learned a great lesson. Hope you all had a great holiday. We are going to be really busy the next few weeks so check back to see all of the exciting things we'll be doing (IF I FIND THE CAMERA CORD!!!)

Native American Tepees

We have been talking about the first Thanksgiving, Pilgrims and Native Americans. We have made the Mayflower ship and tepees. (Forgot to take pictures of the Mayflower, sorry). We are excited about our upcoming Thanksgiving meal next Tuesday.

Family Trees

Thank you parents for helping us learn more about our families. We enjoyed hearing what everyone does on special occasions and holidays! We learned we were alike and different, some have siblings, all have parents, grandparents and we ALL put up a Christmas tree (they were really excited to hear about these!) We appreciate you helping us with our recipe books, too.

READY, SET, GO!

On your mark
Get set
Jump!
I don't think I have ever laughed so hard trying to get this picture of them jumping! This is as good as it gets. ( I think that the people that were driving by the playground thought we were a little crazy!)

Today, we finished up our at home projects. We read "School Day Adventures", presented by Ava, "The Snow Tree", presented by Natalie, "The Adventures of Max the Minnow", presented by Quinton, and "Mrs. Claus Takes a Vacation", presented by Ethan.

WOW!!! What awesome books they picked. We have loved reading each one. Thank you for your hard work!

Pumpkin Play-Do

Today, we did a cooking activity: we made play do scented like pumpkins! The children had a blast and requested the recipe, so here it is:

Homemade Play-Do
1 c. flour
1/2 c. salt
1 T. cooking oil
1 T. cream of tartar
1 c. water
food coloring
*add ins-we used pumpkin pie spice

Stir ingredients into cooking pan. Mix well before heating up. Heat on medium heat. Stir until it forms a ball (it will pull away from the pan and look dry). Turn dough onto board and knead (I had to add extra flour because it was too sticky). Cool. Store in plastic container or sealed ziploc. It will keep longer if you will refrigerate it!

*add-ins- to add spices, start with 1 teaspoon; smell to see if that is enough, then add more. You can add glitter also-just a little at a time until you think you have enough.

At home projects, part 2

Today, we enjoyed reading:

"Barkley", presented by Abigail, "5 Minute Bible Stories: Adam and Eve", presented by Jacob, "Tickle Monster", presented by Tom B and "The Wedding Procession of the Rag Doll and the Broom Handle and Who was in it", presented by Jayden. Some of us had never read these stories so it was exciting to hear these! Thank you for all of your hard work!!
